Mandie Fishback joins
TOTAL PERFORMANCE
This year, Mandie Fishback will be returning for her 8th year with the Brakettes. In 2013, she batted .488 with one 79 hits,
13 doubles and 41 RBI’s while playing a solid shortstop. She was also named a USSSA All-American while helping lead
the team to a 4th consecutive Women's Major title. One of Manager John Stratton’s most trusted team leaders, Fishback made the transition from second base to shortstop during
the 2008 campaign. In 2007, Mandie was named a First
Team All-American at both the ASA 23-and-under and
Major championships, while starring at second base for the Brakettes. Fishback also had a superb two-year career at Florida Atlantic University and was named the 2007 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year. She batted .366 (which was the fourth highest mark in Owls’ history) with seven homers and 34 RBI’s during her senior season.
Elise Fortier joins
TOTAL PERFORMANCE
Perhaps the greatest power hitter to ever grace Bahoshy Field,
Elise Fortier has made an indelible mark on the Fordham record
book in less than three full seasons at Fordham. A two-time,
All-Atlantic 10 selection, Fortier broke the Atlantic 10 single
season record with 20 long balls in 2013 in addition to setting
school records in runs scored (61), walks (43) and slugging
percentage(.808). For her efforts last spring, Fortier earned
First Team NFCA All-Region honors and also found a spot on
the Atlantic 10 Championship All-Tournament Team. Despite
playing just two full seasons at Rose Hill, Fortier already ranks in
the top three on the school’s career home run list and sits inside
the top four in walks and RBI. The Conventry, R.I. native is also
one of just two players in school history to ever knock three home
runs in a single game, a feat she accomplished last season at
St. Bonaventure. She is also one of two players on the current
Fordham roster to ever go yard in the NCAA Tournament,
belting a round-tripper against Arkansas last spring. Possessing
one of the best arms in the conference, Fortier has played several defensive positions in her college career, sporting an impressive fielding percentage at each one. A seasoned pitcher, Elise led her team to back to back State Championships in 2009 and 2010. This year, Elise will be returning for her second year with the Brakettes. In 2013, she batted .513 with 79 hits, 23 home-runs and 87 RBIs while playing a remarkable third base. She was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player in the USSSA tournament hitting four home runs, including one in the championship game and the pivotal two-run base hit of the Winners Bracket Final. Elise was an integral part in leading the team to a fourth consecutive Women's Major title.
